Here is my abstract for the future paper on my topic:
With today's technology and internet availability, physical activities like sports are undergoing major changes in society. My position on the topic is that the internet is the reason that soccer especially has been growing in popularity in the U.S. I will explore site that connect people with the common interest to get out and play such as ysc.com. I will also say that videos on youtube that give tips on improving a player's skill smakes it easier to improve since not everyone can afford the costly summer camps. Finally, I will look at sites that allow people to watch games from other countries, where soccer has already been popular for a long time. Espn3.com allows users to watch games live or late and stay updated on standings on their favorite teams. This of course causes more interest in the sport as well as the desire to play themselves. In conclusion, a nonphysical entity, the internet, is directly affecting a physical activity like soccer.
State your thesis more clearly. Is it the Internet a good thing/ hinderance when it comes to soccer being played? Once you have your position on the topic, the abstract will be much easier to understand.

I think you're on the right track with this abstract. I actually think that your thesis is clear. The internet is why soccer is becoming increasingly popular in the US. You have sentences devoted to the subtopics that you're going to include in your paper. I think the one thing you need is the conclusions that you hope to draw from this and the conclusions that you may find as you do this research. I think this is a great topic.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a good start here. Reading the comment above, I think that your thesis here is that the internet is a good thing because of the way it has affected soccer in America. I could be wrong, but that's the way I took it. So maybe just confirming that a little better would help.
