For my final project in our class, the creative gallery, it was important to me to utilize a concept that we learned about in class. The day that stuck in my mind the most was the day we looked at the website Night of Melvin's Murder. I really liked how it gave users options as to the path they chose to go for accessing another page. I decided to take this concept and apply it to the subject I used this past semester of European football. I used some of the most famous players in the game and found connections among them. Since certain teams have more money to purchase top competitors, these are the teams that typically have the best players like Spain. Although I used less links than the site that inspired the project, it was extremely time consuming to find links for some of the players. Taking as much time as it did for the forteen players I represented, made me appreciate the site Night of Melvins Murder even more. One challenge that I faced where the creators of that site did not was that I was not creating fiction. I had to find connections among the players that were factual so it made it more difficult and took more time. I made sure to incorporate forwards, midfielders, defenders, and even a goalie to create my own All Star Team. The concept also made me think of how our culture sometimes trys to link celebrities like actors or singers in magazines regarding their dating history or present. In Europe, these players are some of the top celebrities so it would be possible for a form of these connections to exist. Enjoy

Creative Gallery Idea
For my creative gallery I wanted to do a website similar to The Night of Melvin's Murder, but with soccer players. One player's page will have two other players with links to their pages. The overall theme is similar to how the media connects celebrities usually through dating. This page will show the connections with players such as who has previously played next to who.

Learning to Love you More Response
Looking at the website Learning to Love you more was pretty interesting. I liked that there was a prompt to online audiences that allow people to grow as individuals. The last and most recent prompt was saying goodbye to all unnecessary things that are causing negative effects including exboyfriends/habits/bad thoughts. Some are more silly like the one that asks users to make a child's outfit into a size they fit into or growing a garden in an unexpected spot. One of my favorite prompts was to hang a windchime in a tree of a parking lot. This may seem odd, but its something simple that will brighten someone elses' day and that made me like it.
I really liked how overall there were exercises that caused people on the internet to actually DO soemthing. Sometimes I think that people that spend countless hours on the internet could use a little encouraging to do a physical activity. What I thought was really interesting is that these submissions had potential to be showcased in museum presentations all over the states.

The Night of Melvin's Murder Response
I thought this was a really unique way of telling a tale. Unlike with books, by clicking the other character or other links the website will redirect you to that specific point of view. That way the reader gets a better overall view of the story even if it usually is only two paragraphs.
I really liked how no matter how many times I clicked, the story seemed endless. Everytime the website redirected me, that specific point of view had links that were completely new. This allows the user to never get tired of the story. These comical write ups on the people that are in fact their alibis. It is frustrating though since the user never really learns who actually killed Melvin.
This site changes the way a story is told and is really unique to the multimedia world.

Rough Draft: Please Comment Suggestions
I have to change the sources I use since taking another look at them they will not help my focus of the paper: that soccer in the multimedia environment has opened new possibilities for soccer fans primarily connecting with other fans internationally.
Draft:
Internet Changing Soccer World
America is not the country most people would associate with futbol or more commonly known as soccer. However, the country is showing that it too can be a top competitor in the soccer community. Top players such as French legend, Thierry Henry, recently have moved and started playing for the ever-growing Major League Soccer. Even American borne players are being recognized for their outstanding skills and recruited for some of the world’s best leagues in Europe. Clinton Dempsey for example, recently was recruited for Fulham of the English Premier League. Some may wonder what has led America to become a better opponent in a sport that initially was not very popular in the country. With the growing accessibility and content available on the internet today, people everywhere are organizing much easier. Websites for sport networks, fans, YouTube, and for facilities that provide a place to play are some of the biggest contributors to his multimedia phenomena. Today, people have more information at the touch of their fingertips in more locations than ever before. Before the internet, this was much more difficult and time consuming to do similar tasks. Moving a physical sport like soccer into an online multimedia environment opens new possibilities for soccer fanatics. Access to games that normally would be unavailable, rapid updates, meeting new people, opportunities to play both physically and virtually have all contributed to the increasing interest and ultimately the skill level of Americans as well as the rest of the world.
One of the types of sites that have greatly impacted the growing curiosity in America are the pages that allow users to watch games from other countries. Networks like ESPN have expanded their websites so that users may watch games that may not be aired on television. If viewers can not watch live, they can also still catch the game on these web pages. As long as the user has high-speed Internet connection or cable TV subscription from an affiliated service provider, they can access these games. Although ESPN3 was created in 2005, two years later the site decided to emphasize live events for viewers. Naturally there is not enough air time for all games. For this reason, there are many games including soccer that are shown exclusively through espn3. By doing this, it promotes website use. While viewers watch a game live, there is always an option to the right of the window that viewers can chat with others that are watching. Not only does this website connect users to teams in other countries, but also with viewers that are as interested as they are. Users are more likely to return to the site to continue to connect with members of the soccer community. Television network Fox Soccer Channel has yet to add this feature of viewing live games to their web page, but they still provide vital news and standings on all the major leagues globally. Sites like these networks not only provide users reliable news, but a chance to connect with the soccer communities that may not be directly available where they live. This is quite different from before the internet was available to the masses since contacting multiple people across the world at the same time was impossible.
Fan websites are another huge factor in the changes of soccer’s popularity in countries like America. Much like the network sites, these websites’ goal is to connect people with similar interest. More specifically these sites rally a fan base for certain teams. These days it seems like every business and person have a Facebook page. Instantly users can be connected with anyone or show more of their personality and interests by ‘liking’ things from their favorite frozen yogurt place to their favorite European soccer team. Facebook can be included in this category since there are many pages for teams as well as players internationally. After ‘liking’ a page, users will be instantly updated on their favorite team or players. Facebook statuses also engage internet users to voice their opinions as well as permit their friends to comment their own. This is yet another forum that allows people of similar interests to communicate. Fan sites can be extremely informative in that news gets posted instantly to the internet, where news stories on the television networks take longer to air. These web pages rapid updating allow fans to stay well-informed on their favorite players or teams.
While the first two types are very similar in their content and overall goal in providing information and connecting users, YouTube’s role is slightly special. The great aspect to YouTube is that there is everything imaginable is available to web users. This of course is within reason and some videos may be removed for explicit or unauthorized use. For soccer fans though, it is a strategic advantage to use the site. There are clips of the best goals, plays, and even announcing available for fans’ evaluation and entertainment purposes. While studying plays made by professionals can be helpful, it is another category of posted video that directly influences the soccer in America. Numerous players and coaches have posted videos that teach others tricks or drills. Before YouTube was created, players looking for advice to step their game up usually shelled out ridiculously large amounts of money for summer training camps. Now players can save money since they don’t necessarily have to go to these expensive camps to improve their skills. Players that financially don’t have the choice of attending a camp, can still get tips from professional players or coaches that could greatly make the difference. These videos connect people in a different way than the first two types did. As long as users have a YouTube account, they are able to comment on the video and voice their opinions whether it was helpful or not.
One of the most important sites are those for facilities that target those interested in actually getting out and playing. YSC Sports, located in Pennsylvania, is a facility that is open to people of all ages to use for soccer practice or games both indoor and outdoor. YSC connects people with the same interest in the sport like the other studied forums. It also organizes and encourages them to get out and actually play the sport they love. For a small fee, people of all ages can play with each other and as a result develop their skills. Before the sport was put on the online multimedia environment, it was much more difficult to organize people interested in playing at a designated time. With adults especially, it is harder with work schedules, families, and other obligations to find facilities open late enough. Initially, people may have organized at a gym to play. However, with facilities that people can find via the web, players can play on a standardized size field. Of course this is immensely more satisfying than playing in a much smaller gym. Facilities like YSC also keep track of the standings in a tournament style that increases the competitiveness and ultimately the level of play. Playing at a more competitive level, challenges players and improves them. The leagues that are available include ones divided by age, sex, skill level, or the option of coed. The YSC site confirms users that they also teach classes from preschool children to just a fitness class for women.
Finally, the last type of online community for soccer fanatics is to virtually play the game. There are some fans that never got the chance to play the game and may not live in an area with facilities like YSC. Fifa playing online connects people of different countries with common interest just like the other forms. The important aspect to this is that it helps users to know the actual players and their skills. By knowing the best teams it gives players an upper hand against opponents. It encourages them to actually watch games and get more involved in the community. Just like with the other types of multimedia that have assisted with soccer’s growing interest in America, Fifa community allows people internationally to communicate and voice their opinions.
With every World Cup, general interest in the states continues to grow substantially. However, the internet’s prominent role in citizens’ lives is the main contributing factor to the interest intensification, which results in American skills playing as well. America has proven that the country can compete, as MLS teams have begun to compete against some of the best international teams. Since soccer has moved into the multimedia forum, people have more access to the sport in more ways than ever before. For this reason, many people are becoming more involved and genuinely interested in the sport. With this increase in interest, Americans are becoming better players in the soccer community.
